Zia Mallick is a British-born investor and serial entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience creating businesses and global brands.
He has a passion for supporting entrepreneurship in the UK and has previously served as a specialist advisor to the then Office of the Deputy Prime Minister assigned with stimulating business growth and access to funding within diverse communities. He has a background in raising investment in both the private and public sectors, including the European Social Fund and the London Development Agency. He ran the Rejuvenating Retailers initiative, a Small Business Service programme funded by the then Department for Trade & Industry under the Phoenix Fund. He developed his passion for working with small businesses during his time in enterprise support, having advised startups and been involved in improving the standards of business support. He launched one of the first Shariah-compliant startup loan programs in the UK that provided access to funding and business support within diverse communities funded by the London Development Agency.
His commercial ventures have included publishing, broadcasting, legal and financial services. Most notably the popular small business magazine, ‘Start Your Business,’ as well as the ‘Business Advisor’, the official publication for the Institute of Business Advisers. He has a proven track record in new media and digital broadcasting.
He has authored two best-selling business books, each a comprehensive guide that walks entrepreneurs through the essential steps of starting and managing a business.
Zia is an Angel Investor with a focus on the fintech and banking space, most notably the global payment processor CardPayGO, as well as several innovative financial technology-based ventures.
Through his work and experience, Zia has become a well-respected figure in the entrepreneurial community, known for offering practical advice and initiatives to help small businesses thrive in today’s competitive global marketplace.
He also has a podcast where he speaks to business and industry leaders. Zia is an avid Formula One fan and works with several charities and foundations promoting equality and equity.
